Exness server time and trading hours

MetaTrader shows the time of the Exness trading server, not your local time. This page explains which time zone that is, how to convert it, and where to check trading hours, rollover and maintenance.

Information comes from Exness help center articles (checked 2026-10-13). Schedules change with holidays, maintenance and daylight saving time, so check the official schedule for the week in which you plan to trade.

Which time zone does MetaTrader use on Exness?

BlueSnyaiper

The platform time is set to GMT+0. It is synchronized with the Exness trading server, which follows UTC+0, so you cannot change it in MetaTrader.

The time zone MetaTrader uses

  • The time in the MetaTrader platform is set to GMT+0.
  • The MetaTrader time zone is synchronized with the Exness trading server, so it cannot be changed.
  • The Exness trading server follows the UTC+0 time zone.
  • Log files do not all use the same clock. In Exness Terminal, MT WebTerminal, the Exness Trade app and the desktop MT4 and MT5, log times are in your device's local time. In mobile MT4 and MT5, iOS uses local time and Android uses server time.

Converting server time to your local time

How do I turn server time into my own time?

BlueSnyaiper

Apply the time difference of your area, written like GMT+4 or GMT-5, to the GMT+0 time. A time zone converter website can help you check the difference.

To convert, apply the time difference of your area to the GMT+0 time shown in MetaTrader. A positive difference such as GMT+4 means adding 4 hours, and a negative difference such as GMT-5 means subtracting 5 hours.

Exness suggests checking your time difference, and says a time zone converter website can be used as well. Source: What is the default timezone set for MetaTrader? (checked 2026-10-13).

Checking trading hours for an instrument

Exness publishes an Instrument trading hours page. You choose an instrument group or a single instrument, a period and a time zone. It then shows when the instrument can be traded, when it is close-only or quote-only, and when it cannot be traded. The schedule reflects holidays, maintenance and daylight saving changes.

  • Exness says the schedule for the current week can be adjusted, and that it emails clients about changes. Holiday trading hours are handled specially and announced directly by email.
  • While an index is quote-only, you cannot open, modify or close positions, pending orders do not fill, and stop-out does not close positions.

During an index's quote-only period, you cannot close positions. Plan for this restriction before holding an index position into that period. Source: Instrument trading hours (checked 2026-10-13).

Rollover and daylight saving time

What happens at rollover?

BlueSnyaiper

At rollover, positions carry over to the next trading day. Spreads widen, and trading or account funding operations may pause briefly. Rollover usually lasts one to two hours, or longer for some instruments.

  • When. Rollover usually happens from Sunday to Thursday at 21:00 UTC+0 in the summer period and 22:00 UTC+0 in the winter period.
  • Summer and winter. In Exness's table, the summer period starts on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November. The winter period starts on the first Sunday of November.
  • Not everything changes together. Instruments follow different daylight saving references, so their trading hours change at different times. The official schedule reflects these changes.
  • Volume limits. The day and night periods for maximum volume are also in GMT+0. See the lot limits page.

A wider spread around rollover raises the cost of a trade, so keep it in mind when placing orders at that time. For the meaning of the spread, see what is spread. Source: Instrument trading hours (checked 2026-10-13).

Maintenance, servers and chart data

  • Maintenance. The MetaTrader servers have regular maintenance, usually on Saturday from 05:00 to 09:00 UTC+0 in winter and from 04:00 to 08:00 UTC+0 in summer, and on Sunday from 05:00 to 09:00 UTC+0. During it, trading, the account view, internal transfers and deposits or withdrawals can stop briefly. The length can change from week to week, and a notice appears in the Personal Area.
  • Trading servers. Trading accounts are assigned to a trading server at random. You can see your server in the Personal Area, but it cannot be changed and you cannot request a specific one.
  • Chart candles in Exness Trade. They are for reference and can differ slightly from those in MT5, and between Exness Trade servers. This does not affect the execution price of orders. Past chart data comes from a separate source, so it can change slightly after a refresh or an app restart.

Can I change the time zone in MetaTrader?

No. The MetaTrader time zone is synchronized with the Exness trading server, so it cannot be changed. The time shown is GMT+0.

Where can I see when an instrument can be traded?

On the Instrument trading hours page. Choose an instrument group or an instrument, a period and a time zone to see trading, close-only, quote-only and non-trading times.

Can I choose my trading server?

No. Accounts are assigned to a trading server at random. You can see yours in the Personal Area, but it cannot be changed and there is no way to request a specific server.

Why does an Exness Trade candle differ slightly from MT5?

Exness Trade candles are for reference and can differ slightly from MT5, and between Exness Trade servers. This does not affect the price at which orders are executed.
