Exness lot limits and the stop level

Two rules limit what an order can look like on Exness. Order volume has minimum and maximum limits. Where a stop level applies, it sets the minimum distance from the current price for pending orders, take profit and stop loss. Exness says most clients have no stop level. This page explains both.

Figures come from Exness help center articles (checked 2026-10-13). Volume limits can depend on the instrument, account type and time of day, and can change. Confirm the figures in your own platform.

Kocchan

Is there one fixed maximum lot size for every instrument?

BlueSnyaiper

No. Maximum volume depends on the instrument, account type and time. Standard and Pro account summaries list 200 lots by day and 60 by night, subject to instrument specifications (checked 2026-10-13).

Minimum and maximum volume per order

Volume is measured in lots. For the unit itself, see what is a lot.

  • Minimum. The Standard and Pro account summaries list 0.01 lot, but instrument-specific minimums apply. Official cryptocurrency and index specifications list minimums from 0.01 to 3 lots. Check your instrument's minimum (checked 2026-10-13).
  • Standard Cent. Volume is counted in cent lots, where 1 cent lot equals 0.01 standard lot.
Period (GMT+0)Maximum volume per order (Standard and Pro)
Day: 7:00 to 20:59200 lots
Night: 21:00 to 6:5960 lots
  • The Standard account article adds that the value can differ by instrument. The Pro account article refers to the instrument specification.
  • For forex majors, minors and exotic pairs on Standard and Pro accounts, the basic values are also 200 lots by day and 60 lots by night, and some instruments have a different value.
  • For Standard Cent, check the current volume limit for your instrument and account in Exness's specifications.
  • Limits for commodities, crypto, indices and other groups are in separate Exness articles for each group.

The Invalid trade volume error

Kocchan

Why do I see Invalid trade volume on an order?

BlueSnyaiper

This can happen when an order exceeds the volume limit for its instrument, account type or execution time. It can affect EA orders and pending orders when a lower limit applies.

  • When one trade is larger than the Exness limit, MetaTrader shows an Invalid trade volume error. The limit applies to some instruments and depends on the account type and the time the order is placed.
  • An EA that tries to send an order above the limit gets the same error.
  • A pending order you placed by hand can also be affected when a lower limit applies. Exness gives an example of a 100-lot pending order that cannot execute at night because the applicable limit is 60 lots (checked 2026-10-13).
  • To see the limit for an instrument, open its contract specifications in the platform.
  • If the error keeps appearing, Exness says to open a ticket in the Support Hub.

What the stop level is

Kocchan

Can I put a stop loss inside the spread?

BlueSnyaiper

No. Exness says a stop loss cannot be placed inside the spread, and neither can a Buy stop or a Sell stop. Buy limit, Sell limit and take profit orders can be placed inside it.

Where a stop level applies, the price of a pending order, take profit or stop loss must be at least a minimum distance away from the current price. That distance is the stop level. Exness says most clients have no stop level.

OrderRequirement in the Exness article
Buy limitBelow the current ask, at -1 point
Sell limitAbove the current bid, at +1 point
Buy stopAbove the current ask, at +1 point
Sell stopBelow the current bid, at -1 point
  • Because of a trading terminal constraint, Buy stop and Sell stop orders cannot be placed inside the spread. A stop loss cannot be placed inside the spread either. Buy limit, Sell limit and take profit can. For the spread itself, see what is spread.
  • A pending order can sometimes fill at a different price than the one you set. This is called slippage.

Where to check the stop level

  • Exness says the values in its table, the values for each instrument and the values on the contract specification pages can change.
  • To see the current value, open the Trading menu in the Personal Area and select Contract Specifications.
  • The Exness forex pages for majors, minors and exotic pairs list the stop level as "Refer to trading platform" and do not give a number.

This page gives no stop level numbers for specific instruments or accounts. The reviewed stop-level article and forex specifications do not provide instrument- or account-specific stop-level numbers. They direct readers to the current contract specifications. Check the value for your own account and instrument before you place orders close to the market price. What is the smallest order I can place?

The Standard and Pro account summaries list 0.01 lot, but instrument-specific minimums apply. Official cryptocurrency and index specifications list minimums from 0.01 to 3 lots. Check your instrument's minimum (checked 2026-10-13). Standard Cent counts in cent lots, where 1 cent lot equals 0.01 standard lot. These figures can change.

Why might a 100-lot pending order fail to execute at night?

Exness gives an example of a 100-lot pending order that cannot execute at night because the applicable limit is 60 lots (checked 2026-10-13). Contract specifications in the platform show the limit for each instrument.

What is a stop level?

It is the minimum distance between the current price and the price where you place a pending order, take profit or stop loss. Exness says most clients have no stop level, and the values can change. Check Contract Specifications in the Personal Area.

Why can I not place my stop loss next to the price?

A stop loss cannot be placed inside the spread, and neither can a Buy stop or a Sell stop.
